Here are the ten best PS5 games

    Elden Ring

A fantastic but brutally difficult open-world game

    Pros

    • A massive open world to explore, with plenty to find
    • Combat that is both rewarding and punishing
    • More content than the majority of players will ever require
    • Open-source development tree that's ready to be tweaked

    Cons

    • Some battles are challenging.

The Dark Souls trilogy has long been the greatest option for a brutally challenging challenge. FromSoftware's latest game, Elden Ring, is a role-playing game, but it foregoes the weaving, linear segments in favor of an open-world environment to emulate Breath of the Wild and Skyrim.

You can now explore extra dungeons in search of useful loot or fight gigantic animals that will reward you with many experience points. Elden Ring also accommodates a variety of playstyles, whether you wish to sneak through bushes for a high-damage backstab or blast adversaries from a distance with your magical spells or hand-crafted crossbow bolts.

Elden Ring is not only the best PS5 games, but it also has potential to be the best games of the generation. This RPG is a must-play if you're willing to endure the extreme difficulty.

    Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

A fantastic adventure for players of all ages

    Pros

    • Quick-paced battle with a wide range of bizarre weapons
    • Variety is provided via platforming, puzzles, and mini-games.
    • Takes advantage of the PS5's improvements
    • Visuals that are next-generation and a compelling story

    Cons

    • As the game progresses, the boss battles get increasingly repetitious.
    • Upgrading weapons can be a pain.

You knew the winner of Trusted Reviews' Best PlayStation Game had to be mentioned; Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is one of the series' best entries to date. The game's 4K visuals and ray tracing technology ensure that every frame is rich in detail, allowing you to discover something new.

This game is suitable for all ages and maybe enjoyed by almost anyone. With many pocket-universe regions to explore for all the competitors out there, the game feels new thanks to its great tempo and variety of puzzles.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a game that everyone should have in their PlayStation 5 library; it takes full advantage of the new console and provides a completely new adventure that everybody can enjoy.

    Gran Turismo 7

Fast-paced and fantastic looking racing game

    Pros

    • A campaign that is both accessible and entertaining.
    • Customization and a wide range of features
    • PS5 DualSense controller provides excellent handling.
    • Excellent audio and pictures

    Cons

    • Rolling starts are a thing of the past.
    • Artificial intelligence (AI) drivers aren't the most competitive.
    • Some players will be put off by the 'pay-to-win' nature of in-game credits.

Gran Turismo 7 is one of the more approachable entries in the racing simulator series, featuring many features and a great driving experience for anyone. The DualSense controller provides superb handling and weight distribution for each automobile you can drive.

The PS5 has stunning visuals, with our reviewer praising the amount of detail in the automobile inside and exterior, particularly in photo mode with ray tracing enabled. You can talk to characters in the Café about the history of various vehicles, so there's a passion for cars in this game. If you're not already a car enthusiast, Gran Turismo may persuade you to become one.

You may also race online with your pals using the new Meeting Place function, allowing racers to gather and race in a more relaxed setting. Sportsmanship ratings also ensure that users drive with respect and that you're paired with people who have similar skill sets, ensuring parity and fairness. This is one of the best PS5 games you can buy if you like hyper-realistic races.

     Deathloop

    A time-bending thriller

    Pros

    • Makes excellent use of the time loop concept.
    • It's a lot of fun to employ supernatural talents.
    • Each hub world has a lot to offer.
    • The multiplayer function adds a fascinating element of mayhem.

    Cons

    • Towards the end, it may become monotonous.
    • There are a few minor technical difficulties.

Deathloop is one of the unique AAA games we've seen in a long time, with Arkane Studios abandoning the formula in favor of a compelling story and explosive gameplay. Thanks to a Groundhog Day-style time loop feature, your character is charged with eliminating eight targets before the end of the day.

Because you'll be in the same position every day in this game, you'll get to know the island of Blackreef well, allowing you more opportunity to appreciate the beautiful aesthetics and cartoony artwork.

This is a highly gratifying game; you can use a different strategy each time you play, but the way the landscape changes and morphs over time ensures that it feels fresh and fascinating every time you return.

    Resident Evil Village

The best horror game on the PS5

    Pros

    • Interesting novel survival mechanics in a creepy setting
    • For fans, the Mercenaries mode is a welcome addition.

    Cons

    • Not as terrifying as Resi 7.
    • The campaign is a little on the short side.

Resident Evil Village is one of the best games in the series, with HDR graphics that let you see the gooey mouldy monsters in stunning detail. Village adopts a first-person perspective, bringing the story closer to the player.

You'll be treated to landscapes reminiscent of Bram Stoker, complete with gothic turrets and skulking werewolves. Because the protagonist, Ethan Winters, prefers to shoot and slash his way through the game, there's less emphasis on stealth, which means you'll have more chances to confront your enemies head-on, amplifying the fear effect.

This is one of the top PS5 games to buy if you enjoy horror games. Not only is there a compelling and eerie plot to follow, but blood and gore have never looked so good on a console before.

    Life is Strange: True Colors

    The best story-driven PS5 game

    Pros

    • Haven Springs is one of the most compelling stories in the series thus far.
    • The quality of character design and animation has vastly improved.
    • The music is fantastic.

    Cons

    • Several bugs were discovered during the game's gameplay.

Life is Strange: True Colors is a story-driven game in which your choices influence the plot. It also features near-Hollywood aesthetics and a drama that may be adapted for the big screen.

The gameplay is based on the discussion between the player and the NPCs, with choices for fresh dialogue and puzzle solutions, allowing you to restart the game multiple times to see what you missed the first time around.

True Color is an emotional plot with a lot of punch, so it's almost as if you're starting a new drama rather than a new video game. This is one of the best Telltale games, with a high replayability rating and fantastic music. It's also a great choice if you prefer a less violent game.

    Returnal

    A challenging but enjoyable rogue-like on PS5

    Pros

    • The DualSense controller is put to good use in this addictive, fast-paced game.
    • The intertwining plot elevates the roguelike genre.
    • It's a challenge, but it's never unjust.

    Cons

    • A couple of technical difficulties

Returnal, another game on this list that makes excellent use of its platform, is a game that shines on the PS5. When you utilize different amounts of force on the triggers, you can feel the rain pelt on the DualSense controller, with different components of your weapon working.

Unlike the other games on this list, Return is a roguelike, so be prepared to restart if you bite the bullet. And you'll probably die a lot, for the animals who inhabit this world are ruthless and make it their life's mission to eliminate you.

Thanks to a surprisingly high narrative that propels the game along, you'll need to keep playing if you want to find out the wider picture. Returnal is unmissable when it comes to PS5 games, as it is one of the best new IPs that Sony has released in a long time.

    Dying Light 2 Stay Human

    Parkour platforming and zombie-slashing fun

    Pros

    • Parkour platforming is a lot of fun.
    • The open-world city is a fantastic place to play.
    • Your choices shape the plot.
    • A fantastic cast of characters.

    Cons

    • Combat is a hit-or-miss proposition.
    • The use of an immunity timer will be polarizing.
    • For horror enthusiasts, it's not terrifying enough.

On the surface, Dying Light 2 may appear to be your usual zombie slasher, but owing to its unique parkour system, which is reminiscent of the platforming in Mirror's Edge, it provides far more. When you add swarms of zombies who will hunt you down after dark, it quickly becomes one of the more entertaining zombie games in recent memory.

You must assist two warring groups in their bid to capture control of the post-apocalyptic metropolis, which has a fascinating tale and cast of people. As the tale progresses, your choices may have enormous ramifications for some of the characters, causing feelings of guilt or sighs of relief.

There are a few small flaws, such as repetitious combat and a lack of gore, but you're in for a treat if you want to slash zombie limbs and explore a post-apocalyptic metropolis.

     Horizon Forbidden West

    Fantastic open-world game

    Pros

    • There are a lot of machines to fight with.
    • A rewarding gameplay loop has been added to the new upgrade system.
    • A wide range of biomes can be found on the map.
    • The plot takes a fascinating new turn.

    Cons

    • Platforming can be a clumsy experience.
    • Several vexing technological challenges

Horizon Forbidden West is a terrific follow-up to Horizon Zero Dawn, with many new machines to hunt and a larger and better upgrading system, and a highly engaging gameplay loop reminiscent of the Monster Hunter series.

On the PS5, the open world looks great, with a range of biomes to explore, ranging from deep rain forests to wide deserts. The tale in Forbidden West is likewise intriguing, taking you even further down the sci-fi rabbit hole.

The game has a few flaws, such as that battle with people is still tedious, and the platforming can be clumsy and annoying. But those problems are easy to overlook when bringing down a robot T-Rex with nothing but a quiver of arrows is so much fun.

     Miles Morales – Marvel’s Spider-Man

A short but sweet Spider-Man adventure

    Pros

    • Miles Morales is a fantastic protagonist who has a compelling story.
    • With additional abilities, the core gameplay paradigm is expanded in a meaningful way.
    • With ray tracing on PS5, Manhattan looks very stunning.
    • Teases an intriguing future for this Spider-Man idea.

    Cons

    • For the asking price, the campaign is a little brief.
    • An unremarkable take on the open-world genre.

This game is well-known for being one of the best PS5 games, but it doesn't make it less of a treasure. Miles Morales is likely the best character in the franchise, being sympathetic as our protagonist while also providing an engaging tale that keeps the game feeling valuable.

Anyone who enjoyed the original Spider-Man PS4 game will feel right at home; the old gameplay style is retained, but with some new powers to keep things interesting. You get a sense of who Miles is here, with the protagonist's love of music, street fashion, and science nicely integrating into the overall design.

Once you've completed the campaign, there are plenty of side activities to engage in, and the world itself is a fantastic addition to the Insomniac universe.
